About

WYOMING WOOD TURNER: Specializing inTurned Wood Art from the Lathe

I am simply compelled to make things from wood. Turning wood on the lathe creates a round canvass with which to experiment. I love the effects of color and texture added to the surface of wood, as well as refinements such as hand-chased threads and finials.

Woodturning has deep roots starting in the European and then the American industrial revolution. From the need for a simple bowl to the precision and skills of the pattern maker woodturning, as early as the 1950's, turned the corner into art. My interests in woodworking and turning on the lathe have been influenced by many disciplines: lidded and threaded boxes, hollow forms, as well as coloring wood to enhance the grain. I invite you to explore my work on ETSY as well as on my website, wyomingwoodturner.com. Please comment or ask a question about the process or a finished item.
Thanks,
Sam Angelo
