I was on a budget...
When I was in college, I came across these gorgeous earrings online. I couldn't afford them, but I really really wanted them! Shortly after, I did some research and after some trial and error, I made the earrings myself. I started receiving so many compliments on the earrings so I thought to myself "why not make my jewelry for everyone else at an affordable price?". And that is exactly what I did. Here I am today, with over 30 different designs and still coming up with new creations! A thin coating of gold/silver/rhodium on top of a base metal, usually Brass. I only use the finest tarnish resistant plated items. They should still be kept away from moisture to ensure they keep their shine. The plated earwires are plated over Stainless Steel which is the most non-allergic metal.
Taking care of your plated jewelry:
All plated items tend to fade over time. It is costume jewelry afterall so is not made to last a life-time. You can get the most wear out of your plated jewelry, especially necklaces, by avoiding letting them get in contact with moisture. Try to store your jewelry in a sealed jewelry box.
What is Sterling Silver and Gold-Filled?
Sterling Silver is 92.5 percent pure with the rest made up of another metal, usually copper, to make the metal harder. Gold-Filled is made up of a base metal (usually brass or copper) covered by thick sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process which ensures it lasts much longer than a regular plated product.
