About

Hullo!

I'm Claire Griffiths of Yellow bear wares, welcome to my Etsy shop! I hope you enjoy what you see- I'd like to tell you a little bit about what I do:

Growing up the slogan: ‘reduce, re-use, recycle’ was followed with much enthusiasm, in fact I remember always having random things used for different purposes once reaching their 'end-life'. For instance when my shoes no longer fit they became plant pots in the garden, my mums laddered tights became supports for plants to grow up, any copper pipes my dad came across became frames for his beloved tomatoes to thrive in, complete with unusable taps attached! This ethos of re-using and upcycling inspired me from a young age, whilst at school my design projects included: a sofa-bed frame made of discarded wooden pallets, a clock made from old CD's and a candle holder made of bent forks!

Currently I love to experiment with vintage knitting needles and other craft based tools- creating jewellery with them, I have fun coming up with new and different designs.
I absolutely love the whole process of making my wares, from getting slightly over-excited when finding the right kind of needles in charity shops and boot sales to seeing the final products once they are completed and wearing them myself. I love the sounds that are made whilst wearing a pair of my knitting needle bracelets, it gives me a real nostalgic feeling and I want to share that. I really enjoy seeing other people wearing my items and feeling happy about it- there's nothing nicer than feeling like you've made someone smile by making something with your own hands.

I am an avid instagram user, follow me there as: 'YELLOWBEARWARES' to see behind the scenes and design previews before they are in my shop!
