A BFA in Drawing in 2000 from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville, lead to apprenticing under glass master, David Goodson (Judson Studio) at his commercial studio in East Tennessee. Immediately, the love of the medium took over and the learning has never ceased.

Techniques I use include: traditional leading, Tiffany-style or copper foil lead work, glass mosaics, traditional glass painting, sandblasting, fusing, lampworking on a oxygen-propane torch with glass rods and traditional bench jewelers techniques in metalwork (utilizing raw, mixed metal sheet and wire).

Taught in the old fashioned way of doing all steps by hand, I continue to work in that traditional way today; for example,my glass is cut with hand tools, not cut with the aid of modern machinery. It is extremely satisfying knowing that I work in a way that is similar to and honors my glass craftsman predecessors of centuries past.

Producing a stained glass window is a lengthy process involving several steps: designing, cartooning or patterning (creating a life sized drawing of the window complete with all of the details), glass cutting, painting, firing, sandblasting, glazing, soldering and weatherproofing. Framing and installation is in addition to the afore mentioned and have their own set of skills and steps.

Fusing glass is a process that uses a kiln (or very hot oven) to melt pieces together. My work uses compatible American art glass and all pieces are annealed properly to insure durability and longevity. Most pieces involve multiple firings. All the work is food safe with easy care- hand washing is recommended.

Smart use of materials is paramount in my working habits and has lead to how I work and what I make beyond stained glass. For example, scraps from my stained glass work are used in my glass mosaics; leftover lampworking rods are re-melted for fusing projects. I recycle all of my metal scraps, my studio paper and cardboard. And yes, I reuse packaging materials. Most of my working space is even outfitted with up-cycled tables and handmade studio furniture!

I am the solo designer, glass cutter, glazer, office worker and customer service representative in my shop. I do work with a couple of very talented Alabama woodworkers for my larger framed and custom pieces.

I also offer local repair and restoration services for stained glass windows and Tiffany style glass lampshades. Simply contact me with any questions via email: yesglassinfo [!at] gmail.com

When I'm not working from my home studio, I'm usually doing yoga, attending a concert, gardening, relaxing with my husband, cat and two dogs and always, always, plotting a future beach vacation.
