About

Of Woods . . . and Words . . . and Wool

I live in the woods of northern Minnesota, where we wear wool more often than not.

So it really should come as no surprise that my mother taught me to knit when I was five. I still remember the rhyme she used to help me remember how knit each stitch:

In through the window
Round through the back
Out through the window
Off pops Jack

During my childhood, I knit many ill- fitting items for my dolls using only garter stitch. In my teens, I knit Barbara Walker's "Learn to Knit" afghan which is proudly draped over our couch today. Armed with the new knitting techniques I learned from the afghan, I started to make many ill-fitting items for myself.

Although I've been knitting almost every day since I was thirteen, it wasn't until I graduated from college that I really became passionate about creating lovely knit items. (During high school, I tried to force yarn into whatever project I wanted to make, even if it wasn't an appropriate yarn for the project or I didn't have the right needles.) "Enough ugly knit stuff!" I declared. With that declaration I ventured into the land of knit socks, very nicely fitting sweaters, and this Etsy shop.

As an English major and a freelance writer, I've always had a soft spot for whimsy. I love that my knitting provides with an outlet for that whimsy, in the form of owl cup cozies, heart studded mittens, and more.

I've been knitting since childhood and officially cannot watch television without some knitting in my hands. I recently ventured into designing my own knit items. I love combining wool and cuteness to make useful, but fun items.

Shop policies

Hi there! My name's Ada and I believe life is better with wool. I hope you like what you see at Yes Sir Yes Sir! I look forward to doing business with you.

I carefully package all my items so that they do not get damaged in shipping. I also may re-use packaging that has minimal wear. If you would rather I used new packaging, kindly note this on your order.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept payment through PayPal or through Etsy direct checkout. I must receive your PayPal funds before I consider your order complete. I will not ship your order.

If you're a fellow Minnesotan, you'll be charged sales tax on your order.

I process orders as quickly as possible, so please contact me *immediately* if you wish to cancel your order.
Shipping
I will ship to the shipping address that appears on your Etsy receipt. Please be sure this is correct as *I will not be held responsible* for items being shipped to the wrong address.

I ship via USPS and use first class postage. Shipping time for domestic packages using first class postage is approximately 3 days, but it may take 2 weeks (or more) for international packages to arrive using this shipping method. For international orders, the buyer is responsible for paying any duties.

Unless otherwise stated, I ship within 4 days (Monday - Friday) of your order. More often than not, I ship your package within 24 hours of receiving your order. I will provide you with tracking information for your package.

For an additional shipping fee, I will happily send your package using priority mail, but please note that due to my rural location, this may not actually increase delivery speed. If you *must* receive your package by a specific date, please convo me and I will do my best to meet your needs.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please convo me with any questions you have about an item before placing your order as refunds are only available if an item is flawed. You must report a flawed item within 30 days of your order date.

If the item was damaged in shipping, please take a few photos and email them to me with the details of your purchase. In some instances, you may be asked to return the damaged item. I will refund your purchase and shipping costs within 3 business days of receiving acceptable proof of damaged goods.

While I do use tracking on all of my packages, there is always an off chance that your order will be lost in the mail. If you suspect your package has been misplaced, please convo me with your concern. If possible, I will replace the item you ordered. If not, I will issue a refund.
