About

Your Organ Grinder came from my own collection of specimens.

Your Organ Grinder was started after a conversation with a friend about my own collection of specimens. My specimens are all animals I have found, they include beetles, mummified bodies, skeletons and dead creatures (all animals that have been found while out walking, nothing purposely killed). I didn't think I could make animals too well but though a needle felted brain was possible, a sewn eye, a heart.

Now I cannot stop making anatomy, animals and other science related pieces. I love getting a challenge from a customer for a custom piece and researching body parts to create.

I am passionate about creating from scratch, or as close to as possible and learning new crafts. My felt is sourced from an Australian business where the staff hand dye colours especially for me. They source their wool from local farmers (in Victoria).

I love taking traditional techniques and using them to create Anatomical works. Recently I picked up Romanian Point Lace and have used it to create Animal Skulls and Skeletons.

I work from my home studio in Brisbane, Australia.
