About

Etsy comes naturally for me!

I can easily say that I am definitely and without a doubt a product of my environment! I grew up in a conservative home of recycling, repurposing, and "making do". My mother was an exceptional seamstress who home-spun the majority of my clothing until I graduated from college. Not only was this the case, but my mother and her mother (my grandmother) collected antiques way before it became a beloved hobby of many folks today. They also enjoyed all sorts of crafting and making things by hand, relishing the fact that their talents gave them a special bond. Each of these factors deeply influenced my adulthood and has made me the person I am today. I love to imagine and create, but mostly I love to inspire. I guess it is the "teacher" in me that continues to want to nurture the imagination of others....to present opportunities to fulfill creative dreams.
Almost 6 years ago I became interested collecting buttons for projects. As a "pre-retirement" hobby, I started sewing fabric yoyos from some of the quilting fabric stash that had been my mother's. I also tried my hand at making paper beads, which I found very addictive:) With all of my items, I needed an outlet. One of my co-workers suggested I try Etsy, and that is how all began!
I taught for 34 years and retired 4 years ago. To sweeten the deal, my husband, who owns a wine bar and lounge, kindly gave me the upstairs to his building (two apartments) so that I might have a studio. I feel blessed that I have been able to do the the two things in life that I really love...teach and inspire.
