About

It's not all about dragons!

Zarrin Handmade is all about using beautiful quality materials to make items which are great to wear and which have an touch of the individual about them - whether that be the design itself or making custom orders. I can't say I choose my materials, more that they choose me - the colour, the texture, the feel when you hold it are all things that have to be right.

My shop grew out of an opportunity to take a break from work when I decided to use the time to try different things that I'd always wanted to have a go at but never quite got around to.

The first item on my list was learning to crochet as I'd seen a picture of a beanie hat which I wanted to make for my rock climbing fiend of a husband. We both benefited - he loved his hat and I found something which I just took to. Before long, I had an addiction for beautiful yarns and at least one crochet project on the go at all times! And orders for more hats... I was soon selling locally near my home in North London and taking commissions and so an Etsy shop was the next step.

From there, I started working on designs of my own and my dragonscale glove pattern was one of my first. I'm currently working on more designs and also sourcing custom dyed yarns so I can meet more colour requests and make items which are really one of a kind.

So what else was on the list? Wait and see...!

I love playing with colour and texture and making allows me to do both at once. Happiness for me is crochet in front of a fire with good music and a glass of wine.
