Many artists I've talked to have told me that they're inspired in their work by love or by food or by friends and family, but for me nature is the ultimate source of inspiration. Nature is all-encompassing, complex, beautiful, and unrelenting. I don't think that anything made by man can even begin to compare with the greatness of nature. The goal in my art (whether it's my jewelry, my watercolors, or my photography) is to capture just the tiniest bit of beauty that is found in nature. I don't try to compete with it; merely to try to convey some of the feeling that it inspires in me.

I studied jewelry-making at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, CA, and metalsmithing at Mission College in Santa Clara, CA.

I work in a completely smoke-free home. Three cats live in my house with me, but they do not help me make jewelry. As much as I'd love to have their help, they seem to be untrainable.

About the Metals I Use in my Work:

***Sterling silver: Sterling silver is an alloy containing at least 92.5% silver. The other 7.5% is usually copper. It will tarnish over time, and I recommend cleaning it with a soft polishing cloth, or using the electrolytic cleaning method.

***Fine silver: Fine silver is the name given to silver that is at least 99.9% pure. It is softer than sterling silver, so it should not be used in jewelry parts that receive normal wear and tear. It does not tarnish as easily as sterling silver, and it is a bit pricier than sterling. I typically use fine silver to make bezels and rivets.

***Copper: I use solid copper, and it will tarnish. If you would like to keep it shiny, I recommend cleaning it periodically with a polishing cloth (available in the supplies section of my shop) or soaking it in white vinegar for 5 minutes, rinsing with water, and drying THOROUGHLY. Of course, tarnished copper develops a nice antiqued patina after awhile. It's your choice!

***Brass: I use a brass alloy in my work called CDA 230. It contains 85% copper and 15% zinc. It does not tend to tarnish as fast as copper, but it can be cared for in much the same manner as copper.

***Nickel silver: Nickel silver does not contain silver. It is an alloy of copper, nickel, and sometimes zinc. It has a silvery color, and it will tarnish like sterling silver. I recommend cleaning it periodically with a polishing cloth. Nickel silver is also known as German silver or alpaca. I do not recommend purchasing jewelry made from this metal if you have a strong nickel sensitivity or allergy.

Additional policies and FAQs
**Custom Orders**

I'm always happy to take custom orders. If you are interested in having something custom created, please contact me. I will be able to give you a price quote and a time estimate for the work. For custom orders under $100, I ask for full payment up-front before I order supplies or start work. 50% of that amount is non-refundable once I have ordered supplies or started the work. For custom orders over $100, I ask for a nonrefundable deposit of 50% before I order supplies or start work. The remaining balance is due before I ship. The only circumstance under which a nonrefundable deposit would be returned to you is if I am unable to complete the work for some reason. Custom orders are not eligible for a refund or exchange. If there is a problem with your custom order when you receive it, please contact me right away so we can find a solution.

**Zbella Lifetime Guarantee**
I guarantee my jewelry for life, and I will repair damage that happens as a result of normal use, free of charge, for the life of the jewelry. It will cost you only shipping to return the item to me. Contact me at info [!at] zbella.net if your jewelry requires repair.
