Beautiful sign. I thank you so much!

Two good southern women make family, home, and art together...

Well, Dyani is a good southern woman and I (Christy) am an unruly woman who lived in the south for a really long time. But we've now escaped to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where we live and love and re-purpose street trash to create Zen Bits Art.

The creative collaboration was inevitable. I was already making art out of rusty metal and scrap wood when we became "us" and I've always loved the extraordinary collages that Dyani creates. (Seriously though, she uses the tiniest bits of magazine paper that you've ever seen.) Little did I know that she was also wicked good with the wood burner and can repair or create just about anything a heart can desire. What's possible with Zen Bits Art has expanded tenfold through our collaboration.

And regardless of whether you choose tetanus art, pyrography, collage, or whatever else comes through in the years ahead of us, you're getting a piece that was born of three simple ideas.

1. Zen Bits Art reminds us to be more gentle with this planet.
Most of the materials used to create Zen Bits Art were collected from the streets of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the fall out from the way we treat our planet. The consequences are real and it's not okay. It is our intention to not just give this litter a new lease on life by creating art, but that the art itself will serve as a wake up call to everyone who encounters it.

2. Zen Bits Art helps us pause and breathe.
Zen Bits are unique. They cause people to slow down a little and that's a beautiful thing. It's a conversation starter. It's a place for you to take a moment to be still and reconnect with yourself.

3. Zen Bits Art holds space for what we desire.
The "Meditating Goddess" reminds us to meditate. "Dancer" reminds us to dance. The "Om" reminds us all of the healing gifts of that sacred sound. Your Zen Bits Art can help you remember a sacred daily practice; call in the relationships, experiences, or emotions you desire; and reconnect to your higher self.

Is that a high call for art? Yes, it certainly is but every single piece is a gift of love filled with intention and healing light. Because that's how we roll here at Zen Bits Art.

  • Christy Farr

    Designer, Creator, Owner

I love rusty metal, these people, and my day job (www.theunrulywoman.com). I am regularly haunted by ideas I doesn't know how to bring to life but eventually--with enough time and whining, plus support from Dyani--they are usually born.

  • Dyani Heinz

    Owner, Designer, Creator

She's beautiful, creative, and the very best partner in crime and co-parent a woman could dream up. Her wood burning, rusty metal assembly, and general handy woman skills are on point. Art is her meditation when she can't bear to be still.

  • Rocky Road

    Shop Mascot

This fine creature is eight years old and spends the bulk of his time bird watching, resting, and telling us all about the status of his food/water/snack/visitation/massage needs.

  • Seth Washington

    Big Poppa

He's 17. He keeps threatening to make art. He refused the title "offspring" and recently went all wrecking ball while driving Christy's beloved Jetta.

  • Kira Liberty

    Oil Guru

She is almost 16. You'll soon find her here on ETSY with her incredible essential oil blends. For now, she's up in her bedroom/lab making magic to heal the world. She never threatens to make art but threatens to keep about half of the art we create.
