Announcement   Welcome to Zigzag Designs located in my warm and cozy home in Wyoming, Michigan. Yes, you heard right. The city of Wyoming is in Michigan. Look for the mitten shape on any map of the United States and you will easily find me in the lower left palm south of Grand Rapids. The word Michigan comes from an Algonquian Chippewa Indian word “meicigama” that means “big sea water” referring to the Great Lakes surrounding the state. Michigan has the longest freshwater shoreline in the world. The state is also known as the “winter wonderland”. The community I live in averages 72 inches of snow a year. But, there are exceptions. In the winter of 2013-2014, 116 inches of snow fell.

I am of Dutch ancestry and my family has lived in western Michigan since the late 1800’s. My passion is knitting. I am happy as long as I have a pair of knitting needles and a skein of yarn. My mother taught me to knit when I was five years old and the needles haven’t stopped clicking in 55 years. I love to design and write my own patterns and I knit professionally creating custom pieces.

Stop by my shop any time and see what new designs I have created. My door is always open.

Made this for a friend's daughter as a surprise, and she loved it! Very easy and quick to knit too.
