Welcome to our woodworking shop! Our handcrafted heirloom quality wood products are made using locally sourced lumber collected within 100 miles of us here in Northeast Ohio. We strive to create unique and quality items that are both functional and beautiful. We want you to be able to admire and use them for many years to come!
Collage picture frames and more photo collage frames! Customers keep asking for different designs, so we just keep creating them! Take a look - you will surely find a design to accommodate your vision for displaying your collection of photos or art! If not, please reach out to us. It is likely that we can create a design for what you do want. We also have double sided frames, so you can see your pictures coming and going! And those, too, can be made to custom sizes.
We offer a variety of wood edge grain cutting boards. They range in size from mini cutting boards to a turkey carving board. Gerry's latest design is a bread board with an onboard bread knife. You'll never have to go digging around in the drawer for your bread knife again!
We also offer custom work. Don't be afraid to ask about that unique picture frame or cutting board you won't find anywhere else!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I want to point out a couple of things that people ask about. The first is about wood. Wood is beautiful to use to create things. There are so many different colors of wood. The grain of different species of trees can range from subtle to incredible. Even on a single piece of lumber, you can find wonderful variations of color and wood grain. With all that in mind, please be aware that the photographs of finished items and the item you receive may not look identical. Wood grain patterns can vary from one piece of lumber to the next, and although the stain color you choose will be the same, the way in which each piece of wood takes that stain can vary. I say this to make you aware that the item you receive will be the same design and the same color, but may have natural variations. It will truly be unique!
My second point is about finishing. As I am sure you are aware, creating these handmade pieces is labor intensive. For that reason, we choose to concern ourselves with what you will see when it is hanging on the wall or sitting on the table. In other words, we do not finish the parts of a frame that will not be visible once it is on display. For most customers that is not a concern. However, if you would prefer to have all sides of your frame finished, please let us know, and we will create a custom order for you with the added expense of finishing those parts.
If you have any questions or concerns about our frames, please visit our FAQ section. If that doesn't answer it, then please reach out to me!
Have a great day!
Missy

5 out of 5 starsThe 2-column x 5-frame (with 6-inch cut-outs) walnut frame is just beautiful! The quality and craftsmanship of the frame are outstanding. It's just perfect for displaying quilling pictures. There was terrific communication with the seller, and I was even reimbursed for an overage. Great shop to do business with! Very happy with purchase!

This stunning glass bowl was used in their great-great grandparents wedding! They needed a way to display it!

This customer creates beautiful stained glass work. Gerry created this custom wood frame so that this piece could hang.

We use all available space for drying after they get a coat of varnish! Love it when the weather is nice!

It's a good thing that our son Max is getting near to being 6 feet tall since some of these frames are big!

Sometimes the custom idea a customer has turns into something we like! Now Weathered Gray stain is one of the options!
It's Important to Like What You Do
This shop is a natural offshoot of Gerry's initial profession. He was a General Contractor for building and remodeling homes for over 40 years. Since he offered custom cabinetry building, he had a woodshop. He had added to and grown his woodshop over the years to the point where it was ready for him to make the switch from remodeling homes to working on items for this shop. He has always been the go-to guy for family and friends. If it is made out of wood, then Gerry can make it! Make it he has, and in the process he has discovered a natural talent and interest for all things wood.
I am happy to say that we truly enjoy the work we do. As Gerry always likes to say, "I make sawdust". He does help me with other aspects of the selling process when I need it, but overall, it is a great division of labor!
We enjoy the customers that visit our store in the Etsy community. That is the beauty of this handmade community - our interactions with customers feel as if we are talking face-to-face in a small shop. If you don't see what you were dreaming of, then let us know what you would like Gerry to create for you!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders
Yes, we make custom sized openings as well as custom patterns. Do you need your double-sided frame to hold a 9.5x13 picture? Yes, we can do that. Are you wondering if we could make a frame to hold 9 portrait 4x6s in a row? Yes, we can do that. Can we make a frame to hold 4 portrait 5x7s and 1 landscape 8x10? We will certainly try to come up with a design you would like for those!
At some point it just becomes too many choices for the menus, so we always welcome custom order questions! Don't be shy! The worst we can tell you is, "No" :>.
Sizing details
It would be nearly impossible to list all of the dimensions for all of the choices in many of our listings. If the listing is for only a few options, then we try to include dimensions. But in those where it would be too much, please ask!
Gift wrapping and packaging
The idea really makes me giggle. Sorry. If you saw what my wrapping jobs for Christmas look like, then you would completely understand. You really do not want me in charge of wrapping your gift :>.
That being said, go ahead and request a gift message! I love messing around with the font and the color on Word to make a really nice note to include with your order!
Wholesale availability
Sorry, we do not do wholesale. We are very fortunate that Gerry is too busy most of the time with our regular orders to consider wholesale. Now that is not to say that we don't take on large orders that can be discounted because of the quantity. Just ask!
What material do you use?
Our frames and cutting boards and bread knives are made out of wood. For the frames we use primarily Poplar wood although Gerry has built some frames using a different species upon request. The cutting boards use a variety of hardwoods. They are all grown and harvested within 100 miles of where we live. We prefer to source it locally for a couple of reasons. We like to support small local businesses, and the lumber yard Gerry frequents is just that. We also prefer to use the same hardwoods that our ancestors used in their cutting boards, so we steer clear of the exotic species that we know nothing about.
How are the pictures held in the openings?
They are held in with a cardboard backer and bend tabs. These are little metal pieces that are designed to bend out of the way to get the cardboard backer out, then place your picture in. After you replace the cardboard backer, you push the bend tab back into place.
How many bend tabs should you expect? You really only need a pair of them on opposite sides of the opening to hold the cardboard and your pictures in place. We typically will shoot in more than you need!
Why is my cardboard backer a bit smaller than the opening?
It is a bit undersized in order to make it easier to get it out of the opening. When you bend the metal bend tabs out of the way they still stick out into the opening a tiny bit. That can make it tricky to remove the cardboard, so we cut the cardboard a bit smaller to help. It will in no way affect how it holds your pictures in place once they are put into the openings and the bend tabs are pushed back down.
Why not glass for the openings?
Two reasons. Well, actually I guess it boils down to one reason. Shipping. Glass is obviously more fragile than plexiglass. (Not to say that one of the shipping companies hasn't managed to destroy a piece of plexiglass! It looked like they ran the box over with the forklift :>!) Glass is also heavier than plexiglass. So it is a win-win to use plexiglass: less chance of breakage and lower cost for shipping due to the weight.
If you really want glass, then let us know. We can square the corners of the openings in the back for an extra fee (I hope you read about that in any of the listing descriptions), then you can pick up some glass at your local glass store or framing shop. We would give you a discount for not having plexiglass.
Returns and Exchanges
We do not accept returns for any of our items. We understand that sometimes a customer may have accidentally chosen the wrong options or their needs have changed. Depending on the item, in some cases we will accept an exchange with these stipulations:
1. You have to order an item of equal or greater value than the one being exchanged.
2. You are responsible for the costs associated with packing, insuring, and shipping the item back.
3. You will pay a restocking fee of 20-32% depending on the order.
4. You contact us with your request no later than 7 days from the day it was delivered.
