This is such a beautiful mug. I love the colours in this. It arrived about a week earlier than I anticipated. Would definitely purchase from this shop again.

Oh my goodness... what a bright, beautiful and happy mug!!! I call this my sunny sunshine mug. It's my second mug from Valerie and it honestly puts a smile on my face every time I use it. The rainbow is bright, drippy and so so pretty and I cannot put this or my other rainbow mug into the cupboard, they're just too pretty!!!

My pottery room used to be a baby's room so there's all these pictures painted on the wall. I like using little parts of it for my pictures smile It's a really happy room to work in!
Anyway, here's one of the new mugs blue_heart🖤

About

The Quest of Clay and the Cat

In 2010 I was living in DC, working for the US government and was making a fair bit of money. But, crucially, I was unhappy and didn't want to live my life as some of the grey worker drones I'd seen around me. So, I saved up some money quit my job and set on a quest - to find my passion. I'd been in the army from 18-22 and, after a bit of bouncing around, had worked for the government since - not really focusing on what I wanted from life or what I enjoyed. The first part of my journey was traveling the world - standard fare in terms of self-discovery. I managed to tick off a fair few exotic places - Ecuador (the best), Thailand, Cambodia, India and a few others - but it didn't bring as much satisfaction as I hoped - I hadn't found what I was looking for.

Now, at the same time as I was quitting my job, I met my current (lovely) partner who was doing fieldwork in DC for his PhD. While I was off traveling we kept things going, so when I came "back" from traveling, I came back to the UK - Leeds, to be specific. The story of visas is long, boring and was expensive, so I'll leave that bit out.

In the UK, I continued on my quest and tried a whole load of different things. I tried belly dancing, pole dancing, street dance (I like dancing), I tried to learn French and Spanish, I started drawing, running, cooking, yoga, painting, pastels, paper marbling, knitting and...pottery. While a lot of other things have fallen aside a bit, I took my first pottery class in 2012 and have just kept going.

We moved to Sheffield last year (2014) and I was still going with pottery (started volunteering at a garden and a cat shelter too). After a while, with people keeping on saying my stuff was good enough to sell, I put a few pots on here...and they sold! Just recently we moved house again and it had enough space for me to set up my own studio - so I'm taking Zoz Pots full time! Even better, the new place allows pets so, after some horrible cat-less years, we now have our cute little kitten, Pumpkin. So, I think this is the end of my quest and, hopefully, the start of many clay adventures.

Born and raised in Nebraska, USA. Now a mighty morphin' power potter in Sheffield, UK. I love making colourful, unique pottery that makes people happy. I didn't choose the clay life, the clay life chose me.
