We keep our clutter down by having a set of posting guidelines.
What can and can't be posted and where to put posts of a certain nature, as in -
Use the seasonal promotions discussion to post your sales and coupons, don't start a new discussion.
We find that most things people want to post can be made into designated discussions. With that, they stay active and towards the top and the clutter settles towards the bottom where it's no longer in the way.

I agree. I would love to delete them too. I can close a thread and post all the guidelines I want but they still happen and they still clog up the feed a bit :-)

That would be great!!! There is always someone who posts a thread that already exists in the Discussions or sales that are over.Yes! I would love to be able to delete them.

We also need a Thread bump up button :) I see all the time people having to write "just bumping this up" it would be nice if captains and leaders had a button so we could do this without having to type it all the time :)

Also It would be nice if there wasn't a limit on treasury list comments. To most people it doesn't matter but to those who do BNR/BNS treasuries it's a problem!!! We like to chat a lot : )

Better than a thread bumping button... Most online forums that I've used before have functionality that lets you pin a thread to the top so it stays up at beginning of the thread list.

yep, more tools to manage the forum would be great!

in our team (etsyitaliateam) to not have to many topics, now we close systematically the not useful ones, redirecting the people to other threads.

furthermore, we made a MENU-THREAD:
it's a normal thread, named "Menu of the forum", where there's a post with all the useful topics of the forum and links to their threads.
once in a while the captain update it, by deleting the old post and making the new one.
there are still new unuseful threads that pop up (many people don't read instructions and guidelines) but the number is very limited and at least there's a place where everybody, especially the new comers, can go and check what' have been said and where to find useful infos, without opening each time a new thread!

Fran ~ We did that same thing on the Integrity of Vintage Team. We have a blue link in the left-hand column that we titled "Team Discussion Index". This has all of the pertinent threads in it (at least, I sure hope it does).
