For Washington area, there used to be a published book about local shows. I got a old copy and found many good shows. Gail's guide. www.amazon.com/Famous-Oregon-Events-Gails-Guides/dp/1881005399/ref=...
They don't have new ones anymore. But old one works.

I'm in South Florida too, and there are TONS of craft fairs around! The bigger ones cost several hundred, but check Craigslist in the "artist" section as well as "events" (both in community section on top left of CL main page)

I have never had any luck finding events in the Sentinel or Miami Herald, but local guides post things as well, like Coconut Creek Magazine, Coral Springs news, etc.
