Rules for Tagging? In Dos and Don'ts?

I've been looking for information about the rules for tagging items in listings. I don't mean the monthly merch desk lists or suggestions for creative tagging. I specifically am looking for any rules there might be against using unrelated words and phrases as tags.

I found in the Dos and Don'ts a comment about not tagging materials as the finished product you might make with them. But what about tagging items with words that don't descibe the item, but something vaguely related? Are we allowed to tag a bowl with "plate" or "cup"? Are we allowed to tag a charm necklace with "watch" or "locket" even if the charm doesn't open and/or doesn't tick?

How about tagging every item in our shops as "gift" that someone might purchase for a present?

Were there rules about these issues, or were they just forum discussions?

yes there are rules

including this part
"You should only state what the item is, not what the item may become or potential uses for the item (for example: yarn should not be labeled as "sweater," beads should not be labeled as "bracelet," small gift items should not be labeled as "stocking stuffer")."
I'd assume the we cannot tag anything as "gift" because really anything could be a gift just like we can't tag all small items as "stocking stuffer"
Yes, I found that this morning. But the examples it gives are not what I am asking about. The examples are indirect

Stocking stuffer is only about Christmas. What about "gift"? What about tagging every item in your shop with the word "gift" and adding other tags listing the people you could gift with the item? Indirectly, that is covered by not tagging with a potential purpose, but I think this needs to be spelled out more clearly because the number of items tagged this way isn't small.
I think it does need to be clearly explained. any item can be a wedding gift, a baby shower present, or just a gift. So I see a gift of any sort being in the same realm as not tagging yarn as a sweater because anything can potentially be a gift.
I just clicked on a "gift" tag in a listing, and got this result:

1,610,574 items for gift

Not only is that number not small...it's huge!

I guess it is allowed then.

LOL, Seems sort of silly to use a tag in a sea as large as the word "gift" :)
When I see some of the tags used, I start pulling my hair out!! It stretches the imagination beyond belief, in a lot of cases. I'm not surprised when I search for a specific items and find everything BUT what I'm looking for.....it's aggravating.
Yeah I would not throw a tiny tag into the sea and expect anyone to find it.

I guess that works against the sellers. I use to do that as a newbie but I think I changed them all.

Newbies don't know better.

Uh, just because something is used that much does not make it "allowed".
