Help with money order situation.

Hello,

I had a person purchase one of my amps and he paid using a money order. Well, I was told he was sending one to me. He is from Russia and he purchased on Jan 26, 2012. I have tried contacting him since then...no response and no money order.

My question is can I cancel the transaction? If so, how do I do that? And is there a set amount of time I have to wait to do so? I have already waited 2 1/2 months..

go to the item receipt page, there is a little blue 'cancel transaction' link (its a bit hard to see if you don't know where it is, but its there)

once you cancel, it takes up to 48 hours for the cancellation to go through. During this time you and the buyer can still leave feedback. You get your etsy fees back. Relist the item before you cancel, as once its gone, its gone.

it will ask a few questions, like have you emailed the buyer, why are you canceling, that sort of thing.
You've waited long enough. If you go to the receipt for the sale there is a "Cancel Transaction" link.
To cancel an order, go to your sold orders and click on the receipt. On the right-hand side, right above the price and shipping, it will say in blue "cancel a transaction".

I don't think there is a set time limit.

As the others have said, renew the listing first, then cancel.
just go to the transaction in sold orders, click on the receipt, then click cancel transaction
Yes you can cancel the sale and I should after all this time.
You go to the item that is sold and clock in the Receipt number, on the right side of your screen. Then halfway the page you'll find the cancel transaction button.
I don't think there's a time limit. When they changed the sold items page to 'shipped/unshipped/all' tabs I had some unpaid transactions that I had missed from years ago that I managed to cancel :P
I can't believe you waited this long! Yes, by all means, you should cancel this transaction. You are very patient.

In the future if you do not want to wait for checks or money orders, you can adjust your settings not to allow for this option.
Next time you decide to accept a money order, be sure to tell the customer that you'll be holding the item for X amount of days. Then you won't be left wondering.

I'm not so sure that I would accept a money order from russia...
Do sellers in the US accept money orders from out of the country? I would think you'd have a super hard time cashing/depositing them. My bank wont even accept personal checks from Canada.
