I am looking at other venues. Not one convo this week from a bride. Unbelievable.

:( I am so sorry Michelle . My sales are down but convos are back not as many as usual but enough. I too just hired an SEO optimization person to drive outside sales.

Yeah, my complaint aside as a graphic designer, it's a terrible design overall.

I just don't get it. I really don't. Why fix something that isn't broke? There are so many other things they could have implimented (guest checkout?) that would have been more useful than leaving brides the impression that the wedding section is a fraction of what it really is.

From a business standpoint, I would want my customers to see all the merchandise available to maximize potential sales. As a former bride myself, I would want all items laid out in front of me, not just a portion, to make sure I've seen everything before I make my selection, on say a veil or a dress.

I was a DIY bride. I bought my dress online after months of searching both major and small bridal stores as well as scoured the internet until I found the perfect dress from an online retailer.

Not to sound crass, but I'm not talking out of my rear end here. I have been a bride, I sell to brides and I'm telling Etsy from my perspective here, this seems like a huge disadvantage business wise.

Weddings are stressful enough to plan without making it harder for them to shop for items. If it were me, I would just leave and go browse another site that is more user friendly. JMHO.
I wish they would at least bring back the showcase option, or something similar. I used to see a big boost in sales during those 6 or so days when I could reserve a featured spot. With the changes that have taken place recently, it's harder to stand out than ever. Having the option to purchase showcase spots would at least help empower sellers somewhat to improve their visibility beyond tags and keywords, especially since we had no say in the changes that occurred. I've purchased some search ads, but those seem like a waste of money.

Yup. Me too. Anything that requires extra steps (even ONE) or extra time (even a SECOND) for buyers to be able to get where they want to go/find what they're looking for - especially when there is sooooo much competition out there and plenty of sites that make it easy/faster/tetc., etc., is a poor decision, business-wise.

I get what they are 'trying' to do. But whomever thought it would be OK to sacrifice load-time and sensible design for big, pretty pictures, hasn't had much experience with shopping online for something as in-depth as a wedding. With all the millions of tiny details that need to be checked off, why waste your time waiting...for anything?

I'm afraid, if they don't do something about it soon, a good chunk of potential business will just head back up to their internet browser's search bar and keep on looking. Elsewhere. I know I would.
My stats are even worse today...down by 75% and have yet to make a sell to a new customer. Sadness is sinking in deep now.
Call me old school etsy, but I even miss recency. I'm not getting the whole relevancy thing. I just recently opened my shop back up from being closed for 1.5 years. I'm trying to find what makes my items different, but yet far as a bride browsing and stumbling onto my clutches seem slim!

Just got an 'interesting' email back from Etsy Support containing the following:

'We're very aware of the buyer confusion that erupted when we released the new design for the category. Many buyers seemed to forget that they could still utilize the search box to find items, and upon reaching the "No more items to display" message within subcategories, they assumed that they'd seen all there was to see.

We recently added a search box at the bottom of the Weddings page to allow shoppers access to the full breadth of our marketplace and to eliminate some of this confusion. The search box was added at the request of our sellers, and we hope that it helps ease some of the concerns that were being voiced. As many of us are sellers ourselves, we completely understand the frustration our community felt after the changes hit, and we really appreciate all the feedback that has been provided.

At this time we have no plans to return the Weddings category to its original design. However, we are closely monitoring statistics, feedback, and emails as we work on further improvements to the page.'

Along with a bunch of mumbo-jumbo about 'recency' vs. 'relevancy'.

I have a sinking feeling they don't plan on making any more significant changes for a while.

Apparently by 'monitoring' things, it means that they want to wait until the end of summer to see how many wedding sellers are out of business before they make any crucial moves.

My views were pretty sad yesterday, but I'm hoping it's just because people are out at graduation parties (I was invited to several myself). Nobody seems to be hanging out on Facebook right now either.
Shalom, I got the exact same email from them today, too!

Ok I'm starting to see what this thread is all about. Being new to the bridal section I had no clue. I just saw a baby headband in the bridal accessory section.
