loopy, as i understand it you could have any of your items that are not listed on etsy on your website. just not the exact one that was here.

the example that i heard once was that you could sell a white cake on etsy and a black cake on your website.
and if you wanted to do something with your own website why not ask etsy for clarification. i think having your own selling website, loopy, especially with your items would be a great idea.
That is true allthings and from what I understand perfectly okay on Etsy (though many shops get flagged for it like unmasked was talking about)

what I'm talking about is entirely different and maybe cuz you sell vintage you never notice this, but there are plenty of shops that have and continue to display their website clearly in their shop which sell exactly the same thing on Etsy as they do on their websites.

While the rules state this is not allowed, some shops get closed for doing it while others remain open and continue to display thier webisite.

Its baffeling to say the least!
you trying to get rid of me allthings:)

LOL, I can't keep an Etsy shop full AND a stand alone website, I could never have both but am working toward one day having my own stand alone site.
i don't pay any attention, because it is only a problem for etsy. i certainly understand why etsy would want to get their fees instead of the of the sale happening off site.

i have my blog link right in my announcements, but if any one looks at my blog they will see that what i am promoting there is here on etsy.
I have my own website - and I have it listed in my profile. It has the same items as here - actually less because I'm so far behind at updating the website, but every link there sends the buyer back here to Etsy to purchase - I don't even have descriptions there - just the photo and title. The only thing you can buy on my website are books about vintage/antique that are available "on the river".

If I ever get a shopping cart set up on my website, I won't sell the same items here and there - but I will probably always have a shop on Etsy and a link on my website to shop here on Etsy.

i am sorry, loopy, i didn't realize you were talking to me because of the name.

i certainly can see that it would be hard to stock more than one shop, but i think your own site would be cool and inspiring. a whole loopy world.
i think you are talking about another kind of seller and this is a coded thread with another kind of complaint, right?
