SEARCH STATS DROPPED DRASTICALLY!

Rene, I have always noticed unrelated keywords in my shop stats. Like, things I don't have in my shop- not even close, that somehow brought someone to my item. Of course, its not what they were looking for, so they bounce. Its very strange.

Strawberryluna, I was told that the sudden drop in views for some sellers is due to relevancy/ rotating listings and sellers and is normal. Has been since last summer. It doesn't sound normal at all to me. I would think your turn in rotations should be coming soon if its been since March. I hope so for your sake!

June-July are typically months where I have a lot of listings expiring and need to renew them, and I'm having a hard time justifying that right now just due to the low number of item views I'm seeing right now. I'm still finding my items in search, plenty on the first few pages, so does that mean that shoppers just suddenly stopped searching for those things last month? I'm not panicked or anything - I never have been dependent on etsy sales for my income - but it IS kinda hard for me to believe that something hasn't drastically changed. My views were really starting to climb in April, and now they've all but dried up.

I am all for new. I am not into begging my friends to buy my stuff. Since Etsy does not answers question now. I am spending $112 a week. I am about out of resales to weddings. Sales equal add charges then I am out all the other charges. So other than face book is there any other thing?

Corrine,
My point wasn't that they were unrelated, it's that I am getting more views (which isn't saying much) from these obscure unrelated keyword phrases than from the regular most often used keywords used by shoppers. This is because my listings are not showing up in any of these general type searches even though they are optimized for such searches and use to come up quite well.

Awww thank you! That's a sweet wish, and I hope the same for you :)

I can't imagine that even if there is a rotation that it could last for 3 months at a time or more. That's kinda what is so unsettling to me, that it's not a week-to-week up and down, it's just a huge drop in March and a slow, ever downward facing decline since.

I can find my listings without having to try too hard, so I don't know if a rotation-based theory would apply. It's more like someone shut out the lights in half of my shop. It's very very weird.

I'm not an Etsy-basher, nor am I a cupcake. I'm just a really hardworking artistst and business person that has found Etsy to be a life-changingly solid venue, up until this past March.

Things are super sketchy right now, I am hopeful that they change too.

Put another way... these obscure keyword phrases should be on page 4 or 5, not on page 1... Page 1 should be filled with lots of general terms. I'm not getting found by those terms and that's why they are missing.

Something that I need constant reminding of myself is that (stepping away from search on etsy for a minute) Google becomes less interested in your unchanged item after 60 days, so it's actually good to edit tags and titles a couple of months in. It seems to make some difference.

We contacted our engineering team to inquire about any issues that we might not been aware of. What we saw was that there is no indication of widespread issues (much as I had mentioned previously). There has been a slight drop that's typical of the beginning of summer, but that's the only thing that we're seeing. I'm not pointing this out to marginalize what you're sharing, but to at least give the reassurance that we are looking and are not finding any pervasive issues.

Strawberry,

Have you checked to see if all your items show up in google shopping? Apparently they expire there, so if you edit them and ask for a push it may help. I don't understand how some can expire after a month and some stay infinitely, but that's what the experts say. I am still getting google hits on an item I sold about 6 months ago!
