my shop has been DEAD all month!! This is how bad my page views are declining:

June 3,900
May 5,000
April 7,300
March 9,800
Jan 14,100

I do NOT like the new search feature. I also don't like how all the listings are not showing up on the front page. What is going on????
If you (general you) check the report that Krystal showed us and you're not getting many orders with a mobile device, you might have a clue as to why your sales have dropped. Perhaps not a complete answer, but certainly a contributing factor.

Thank you Krystal! I just got a gander of my stats and it was something to ponder.

Karen.....I think you are on to something with the above statement. So do any of you tech gurus have tips on improving the scenario? I will be reading through back pages again so forgive me if it's been covered.
Karen, thanks for all your help. We haven't seen Matt here in days....

Well, shoot, I can't seem to see that report. But regardless of that, this is all pretty alarming.

When I emailed etsy they said: 'We haven't made any major changes to the search algorithm' OK, that just seems to be wrong. There is a lot of stuff going on. It just seems like, when search changes- yet again, and what we need to do to be found changes- yet again, we should be notified. And when we email and ask for advice, we should not hear the same old tired answers about how we need to work on our shops- which were formerly functioning fine- with no specific suggestions. We should not have to search through a million forums or be members of a specific team to be told- clearly, and in a manner that can be understood- what we need to do to make our shops work.

I've just spent a lot of time reworking listings- putting words in particular orders, expanding so that I can be found in more categories only to find that a lot of what I've done may be wrong? I was under the impression that many folks came to etsy with an idea of what they were looking for and typed in words to start a search- is this not the case? That's what I always do.

I really truly don't know what to do next.

If the photo thing is the kind of thing where photos get rejected from the search because, for instance, they have glare on them, then I am in real trouble. Glass very often presents photographic problems. We should not have to be a professional photographers to get our products seen. I'm not saying this is the case- but when Karen said that it seemed that only good photos were shown on an iphone and she didn't know how that happened, it gave me a fright.

OK, I'm done. But I'm very unhappy with all of this.
There is definitely something happening or shall I say not happening. My stats have been off for the last several months.

What's up Etsy?

roguegirlvintage--this topic actually just came up but my understanding is that the new pintsy categories are based on relevancy so I would hope that optimizing for search would help get you seen in the new category style. However, as Krystal mentioned, that may not be enough. Your first picture is essentially the only thing representing you in that category view so you'll need to make sure your photos are as good as you can get them.

Unfortunately, there are limitations to this--the new category style doesn't seem to have as many subcats so someone who optimized for a more specific search rather than a generic one could get very lost in categories now because their buyers can't drill down as far into the subcats to hit the sections where the sellers' items are more visible. Hopefully that made sense.

I guess that means we actually have to optimize some of our listings for more generic searches if we want to be seen early on in the new pintsy style categories.
OK, maybe what I've done is finally having a little bit of an effect? My stats are going up a little today. So maybe I should take my own advice and just wait a little longer to see... I can't go in and start messing with things again.

glassbead, from the various threads I've read, it's suggested that you don't do a bunch of tweaks at the same time and that you need to wait a couple of days or so to see how the tweaks affected your listings/shop. Otherwise you might do something good and completely miss that it actually worked because you changed it too quickly.
Eva~Thank you!! I just started reading as far back as possible (since I last checked the thread) but you summed it up perfectly! Ok, I'll have to run some experiments to see what works.

I believe that today again I am experiencing the new normal.......about the same about of views from search as before relevancy.

Only 131 views from etsy search. Wow. That's bad.

It's been a couple days/week of my "average" views. And 5 days of noticably below average.

Something changed.
Have tweaked, renewed, SEO'd, joined ETSY Success, and socially promote.

4 views today.
