I can see how you would be annoyed by this, however, I don't think there's any sense in reporting it. There are no rules against having a bunch of favorites.

And if anything, it's helping promote your shop when they favorite your items! I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Not a new trend for promoting, but sadly it is done.

On a delightfully happy note, I reported the 2 shops I "discovered" from their favoriting my items to sell their Not Etsy Approved junk less than 48 hrs ago & they are GONE!

Imagine many others reported them as well. They'll be back...
What if someone with same items keeps favoriting your shop. Has almost the same items. I don't get it. hmmmmmmmm

Now they're not even opening shops--just posting info on how they can get your shop noticed right in their profile with a link to a website to contact them.

I just had one favorite one of my items. How can we report them if they don't have a shop? This one states how she can promote your shop and she gives a link to her website.

Grrrr.....
Eva! thats whats just happened to me.
I dunno why but i find it really annoying.I like to see who has favourited my items because they genuinly liked them and not liking 10 of them so I look on there profile.
It would be nice if there was a way to report them for it as I have looked on the report bit and theres not really any option that fits with what there doing.

Well, since I last posted, the illegal promoter has favorited many more of my items. I have sent them a message to stop, and I've reported them to etsy. Hope others will do the same if they're "attacked".
I was thinking about sending them a message but I'm not big on confrontations but I thought maybe a polite please refrain from faving my items to boost your exposure.

Dawn! you have given me the courage lol

I've also reported many shops that has this theme of illegal promotions, and I do think the few that i have reported are gone.
but now I've got a new trend - with profiles and descriptions in said profiles About section of how I can get cheap traffic to my shop if i go to such and such website that has nothing to do with etsy or anything related to etsy and they don't have a shop opened. Just a new member with a few thousand likes within an hour or two.

No way of reporting these people as well?

I know why i find it annoying, its for the exact same reasons I dislike unwanted soliciting phone calls, or email scams, or anyone knocking on my door trying to promote something that makes huge alarms go off in my head.

I do check out those who favorite my shop, because I like to see what others are selling.
