Getting ready to deal with taxes before launching shop

My first post here! :) I've been working on setting up a fine art photo shop, and I read all of the info on what to do in regards to paying taxes on products. However, the directions on Etsy saying what links to click to select my state/tax percentage are not appearing for me. Is this because my shop hasn't had it's grand opening yet, and will it appear once I launch it? Or am I just missing something somehow?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Kelsie! Welcome to Etsy! Just ignore the post above. You'll see that kind of spam on the forums occasionally.
I think that the reason you're not see it, is because your not open yet. Once you get items listed, I think you'll be able to set the tax, shipping charges and all that.
It's been awhile since I've done it. Maybe someone else will pop in with advice.
Good luck!
You'll see the options once you set up as a seller.

Before collecting/remitting sales tax, most states require you to register with them--if you haven't already registered, this thread should help you figure out how:

Thanks guys. I already checked the requirements for registering for my state (California). Luckily Etsy used California as their example state and posted the link. ;)

I just wasn't sure how to get my actual shop set up to take care of it for me instead of making calculations later, but it's good to hear that the only issue is that I'm not launched yet. I'm not quite ready to launch as I'm still working on organizing and adding listings (can we say OVERWHELMING?).

Thanks again!
You're welcome & good luck! It'll seem like old hat soon enough. :)
