Does Etsy have some kind of rotation thing?

The reason I am asking is because my coaster listings will be relevant for a week, then disappear, then be relevant again and disappear and so on... Either the listings are relevant or they are not. I do not understand this at all. If it were just a matter of someone tagging and titling to be more relevant, hence moving up in the searches I can understand that, but my position in the searches go back and forth.

I can tell when I am back up front in the searches because all of the sudden I start getting views and selling coasters again. I can go back through my sales and see blocks of coasters sales, then nothing. Same pattern in my stats.

Rotation????

I don't know the answer to this but it wouldn't surprise me.
I've heard this before. My friend(another seller) has a theory that this is true but I don't know anything for a fact.
I've given up on trying to figure out relevancy! But I'm bumping this in case someone else knows.
Can't listings be equally relevant? Key words used the same number of times in title and tags in many different listings. If so, then rotating order is the only fair way to handle it.
I wondered the same thing myself.

I would agree with that except there are some whose listings NEVER move from the 1st several pages of the search...so are only some sellers listings be "rotated" and not others?
Sellers have posted evidence of this where their stats drop off suddenly, then jump back up then back down like waves.
And if that is true, what makes those particular listing more relevant all of the time?
I've noticed this exact pattern myself and have been wondering if I'm being rotated through the searches.
