Great link Thanks! Had to dial in my shop announcement! An F in a sea of As.
If you use shoptimizer, you only need to use one of the categories for it to count eg. women, girls, modern.
I went through all my tags and added a few and got an A instead of a D
It was time consuming though. I did end up getting more views :)
I don't think they are actually being used at this point, but eventually they will be used as a filter for buyers to narrow down what they are looking for. I use them for all of my items, simply because I don't want to go back and add them later.
But do they limit your potential for more customers? A few people have asked if adding occasions and styles limit your selling audience. Any thoughts or advice?
since etsy doesn't use them for anything they do not limit your buyers. unless they read them at the bottom of your listing and that affects whether they buy or not. i made up my own styles!
I use the styles and "who's it for" in every listing. I have only used the Occasion drop-down for my Halloween items.
Thanks for bringing this up!
I struggle with style too. I usually end up with rustic or cottage chic. :(
Suggestions welcome!
Just updated my listings ... Thanks!
