I've been reading post after post pertaining to all the DC problems.
My guess is that DC probably was developed by some "College Whiz Kid" who wanted to find an easier way for the customer to check out and pay. But didn't count the cost and take into consideration of all the problems that it has already caused for the sellers.
Is it really too difficult for everyone to open a Paypal account to either buy or sell on Etsy? eBay only uses Paypal and it works for them. I know you don't have to tell me that eBay owns Paypal.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!
I'm not that kind of person who jumps on the bandwagon like everyone else
when something new comes along to sign up for it. I'm from the old school and I won't even pay my bills on line. I sit down write out a check and mail it the old fashioned way. I want USPS to stay in business.
And now Etsy just developed the gift card that can be used when paying for purchases. I'm waiting to read all the posts about how the gift cards are not working in the DC system.
Etsy it's not fair that you offer DC to sellers in the USA, but international sellers can't have DC yet!!
Etsy can you guarantee that a hacker can't access your system and steal credit card information or money from my sales?
I don't want Etsy having control over my money at all. I want control of when I decide to transfer money from my Paypal account to my bank account.
My post has a harsh overtone and the reason for it is that I was a victim last year of internet credit card fraud. Somehow a person stole my credit card information and used my Discover Card number and bought a big ticket item from Home Depot in the sum of $1,700 and then used it a second time to pay for a cell phone bill. I never received an alert from Discover Card warning me. Then I found out about it several weeks later, I immediately cancelled the card and filed a police report. I was not responsible for the charges, but who really lost out was Home Depot and the cell phone company.
If Etsy doesn't give us the option of either having Paypal or DC, I will be forced to close my shop along with other sellers who also don't want to sign up with DC.
