Help.....Unsure

Hi there,

I may be completely mistaken with this so apologise now if im wrong......

I have a customer wanting to pay a deposit for a custom item and then pay the rest after the work has been completed.

Whilst i'm not mad keen to do this ( we've experienced too many people not paying - Not on Etsy i might add) I will do it if it helps the customer out.

Having said that i'm sure i read somewhere on these boards that taking deposits was against Etsys rules?

Does anyone know if thats the case???

No, you can do deposits, you just can't list them as a deposit, with future listings for the other payments.
The way to do it is to enable 'other' as payment method (you can always change back after the buyer has checked out), and list the item(s) at full price. Your buyer purchases, using 'other' . You then send a paypal invoice for the deposit, and future invoices for the remaining payments at the agreed-upon intervals.
Oh ok thanks

I'll go do that now :-)
