Well.. I shouldn't turn gold though, silver becomes kinda yellow but theres a way to clean it with lemon. Any more info on silver needed, please let me know :)
Yeah, your silver likely just got tarnished. Run some sandpaper over a portion of it; I bet you'll see some silver under that layer of tarnish. :)
i use The original NEVER-DULL magic wadding polish! You can get it at any hardware shop and it works great to bring the silver right back out without a lot of work!!
The best thing to polish sterling silver is red rouge, a polishing medium.
That's true..I think right now she just wants to find out if it's gold or sterling.
Here's what I would do. Take some steel wool or fine grit sandpaper. Sand a small section on the end. Make it shiny. If after that, it looks silver, try to tarnish it. You can do this by boiling and egg, mush it up & put it in a baggie. Snip off your sanded end and put in the baggie with the egg. After a few minutes, you should see it turning. If it turns, you have silver. Gold doesn't do this.

Your piece could be silver & still be goldish if it was stored in or near something that could oxidize it. Oxidizing can turn it all kinds of hues including reds & purples

As far as cleaning your silver, there are all kind of things. Don't skimp. Try to find something that has an anti-tarnish in it. I prefer Hagerty's products & a soft natural bristle brush or a good impregnated polishing cloth.
Thanks so much to everyone I'll let ya'll know how it turned out =)
