you can email them if you would like an increase.

I can't post their response because it's against Forum rules, but it's basically the same thing that has been said here.

I don't object to my specific limit, I object to different shops having different limits. If there is going to be a limit, it should be the same for everyone.

Agreed.
i agree that it's an added expense, up front... however, good advertising is more of an investment than an expense .. IF that twenty dollars brings in sales of, say, 200 dollars over the month .. then it becomes well worth it ..it's now a business investment, not really an 'expense' . and we can track it .. so we'll know if this investment is worth it .. i'm going to give it a shot ... we'll see
Yeppers to XO. I mean it's one thing if we DON"T want to spend $200. It's another if we 1)either have to because of the large category and sellers with deep pockets or 2)want to but can't because E won't let us.

I understand if someone has like a real bad payment history, but $5 or $200 isn't going to matter to someone that doesn't pay their bill anyway.
I think the budget limit/credit thing is pretty shaky too... not sure if I fall for it as explained. I'm guessing the explanation got mixed up between tech to admin to forum admin.
But I could really care less why limits are imposed or even what they are. Someone can have my limit if they want it.

edited to add... ohhhhh, I see now. Seeing the suggestions of why there is a limit is indeed disturbing.

Totally agree.
I will not be doing the ads--at least at this point.

I wonder if anyone has thought of the fact that there are going to be so many people rushing to sign up for this that they all will be lost in a sea of blinking ads. If there were only a few, one's ad might pop up for a few seconds--and actually be seen long enough to register in the mind of the buyer. However, if there are thousands of folks signing up for this, I would imagine their ad might be just a blip on the screen--and then gone till the next cycle.

It's like this: if you are driving along a highway and you see a billboard now and then, you are more apt to take notice. However, if ALL you see is one billboard after another, you will soon tune them all out.

I don't think this is going to do much of a service to sellers. More likely, it's just another way for Etsy to make money.

Paid ads screaming for attention at the top of the screen is so not like the Etsy that I fell in love with years ago. The homespun, caring Etsy is becoming more and more like Facebook and all the other websites with paid ads. It doesn't seem to be in character with what Etsy is all about.

.....We currently have a limit on the amount of money you can spend per week based on your past credit and bill paying on Etsy.

This does not at all explain why 2 active shops with perfect credit ratings here would have wildly different spending limits - one with $30 and one with $200.
Is there a way to access the Cost of Keywords from our shops while we are looking at the chosen words?
Or do I have to bounce back and forth over to a link, I can't find again, for that info?
Surely I must be missing something very, very simple:)
Hello,

To answer your questions about keywords; we determine keywords automatically through several techniques. First, we look at the tags, titles, and descriptions you have entered in your item listings. Then we match those with the most popular searches on Etsy.

At this time, you can only buy keywords that are suggested to you in the keyword tool. We want to make sure that the keywords our sellers use both follow our policies and will be popular enough to get you a lot of impressions.

Please know that we want these ads to bring you views, hearts and sales just like you do! We do well when you do well! I understand that some of you have concerns about how the keyword suggestion algorithm is reading your items and suggesting key words and phrases. I'm going to make sure that our Search Ads Team sees these concerns and takes them into consideration as we move forward. We absolutely want to see these ads work for you.
