Average sales per shop on Etsy...

I took the $76.8 million figure from the weather report and divided it by the number of shops and I came up with $168 per shop for Sept. to come up with an average sales per shop statistic. Did I do that right?

I know there are lots of dead shops in that total, but I think this is something to think about when people want to know if they can make a lot of money selling on Etsy.

I see where you are coming from, but as you said, there are a lot of shops that are not doing or listing anything at all, so it really can't be calculated that way without knowing the percentages of dead shops to active and even hyper active shops. :)
The shops figure I used was for active shops, so shops without anything for sale wouldn't be included in that. It's the shop total from this Etsy link...

www.etsy.com/search/shops?search_query=+&search_submit=&search_type...

It's an average of sales on the overall site, so high activity and low activity shops should even out to some degree.

I'd be curious to see the distribution curve. What percentage of all sales on etsy are sales in the top 5% busiest shops here, for example?
I'm sure it's a pretty large percentage. Even if there were only 100,000 shops on the site, that would only be $770 a month.
