I have noticed that natural disasters are becoming a common occurance. After the big quake and tsunami in Japan, I decided that I wanted to make donating a regular part of my business practice.

I decided to give 5% of my sales to disaster relief. I didn't want to provide receipt screen shots of my donations, but I did want to have a way for customers to be able to see what I donated. People tend to be suspicious of anyone claiming to donate.. I wanted my donations to be transparent, and open.

I don't advertise my shop as a charity shop, I am trying to build a business, and make a profit. But I do want to have donating part of my business.

Global Giving was the right answer for me. You can set up a Fundraising page. In this page you can see how much has been raised in total, and see the last several donations. In addition to this, you choose the charities on your fundraising page. I will leave the link below, so you can poke around mine.

This way I also have one central place I have donated through. It is a great way to keep track of the donations if you make enough a year to write them off on your taxes.
