Promo Swappers has the following requirements:

I would like to keep this to shop owners within the USA. This will keep postage both ways reasonable. But if you live elsewhere, no problem!! As long as you know that postage and customs will be a concern. I hope to develop this group to allow for a swap on a quarterly basis.

About this team

A place for shop owners to collaborate and promote their shops through low cost/investment “Promo Swaps”. What is a “Promo Swap”? Read on!

What is a “Promo Swap”? – A Promo Swap involves the exchange of “Promo Items” which are small, light weight items or representations of what your store is all about.(Simple, inexpensive and has your shop info with it)

Examples could be a button, pair of ear rings, sample bar of soap, postcard, beads, or anything else that would be a sample of your craft. It could be as simple as your business card with a piece of candy stapled to it. Or as complex as a real(inexpensive) item that you would sell. Use your imagination, I know that I do.

Basically all interested parties would send a box of promo items to a central location to participate in a particular swap. There, the items get divided between everyone and shipped back out. So, you send in a box of your stuff (and some return postage) and in return you get a mixed box of stuff from everyone else.

From there, every time you ship out a purchased item you simply drop in one or more promo items from other shops for your customer to enjoy. Just think, you have an outgoing package to a customer that weighs 6.2 ounces. You are going to pay the 7 ounce postage rate, so why not put some “free stuff” in the box for your customer to enjoy from other shops. Overall this is a collaborative effort to increase exposure for everyone’s shop, and your customer gets free stuff!! Now how much you send in to distribute is entirely up to you. If there are 20 people participating in the swap and you sent 40 items, everyone else would get a couple of your swaps to distribute. If you send in fewer, no problem. You will still get stuff in return to distribute. In the end, for the cost of postage both ways, you get the opportunity to expose your shop to customers that actually purchased something. This makes them a better potential customer to market to than just some “window shopper” off the street.

Now to take this a step further. If you are a regular vendor at one of the many shows… you have the option to use these promo swap items as a “thank you” for your walk up traffic. A nice little something in the shopping bag as a takeaway for your customer.

Everyone will need to tell me what they sell in their shops so that during a swap you don’t receive items back similar to what you sell. I understand that if you sell jewelry, you may not want to distribute jewelry from another shop.

Keep in mind that as the facilitator, I will need to collect your email, name, address and other etsy shop related info to coordinate swaps and related communications ONLY. This information will not be shared with anyone…. Period! Not even the other swappers will have access to this list. If anyone gets a hold of your address, phone number or anything else, it will be because you have it listed on your swap items/business cards.

This is not a group created to faciliate any “purchases” or “trades” of product from each other. Etsy's TOS must be followed. Please familiarize yourself with them.
