About this team

Join the Craft Gypsy Caravan and share your experiences of Great or Not so Great Craft Shows and Fairs.
Share with others your list of upcoming shows for the year and give feedback both good and bad of your favorite shows and locations.
Also let's explore together the fine line of either setting up a brick and mortar shop or selling your Crafts totally online.
I have traveled so much the past 25 years doing shows that it's now in my blood and every weekend that rolls around I get VERY anxious that I am missing a Great Event somewhere! My mind is always juggling the pros and cons of travel these days with the gas prices, high booth fees and low attendance at once great venues.
Do you feel the same? If so Join the Caravan so we can all share our fears, failures and successes of past and present.
Remember the 90s when it was always possible to sell out at a show? Remember when booth fees were under $100?
Remember when 10 times the booth fee was never a problem?
Let's brain storm and figure out the next best way to Create, Travel and Sell our Crafts!
Today it requires a combination of so many things, what ways have you come up with that work? What things didn't pan out like you wished?
The Gypsy in Me want to always be able to afford to travel and meet my customers face to face and have the satisfaction of immediate feedback via money changing hands.
Do you feel the best days for Crafters are behind us or the Best days are on the next horizon?
Join us on the Craft Gypsy Caravan and let's see what we can discover together on the road or on the web!
So anyway back on subject starting today May 16th, 2011 CRAFT GYPSIES is starting a revolution of it's own!

SAVE THE ARTISTS...SHOP ETSY!

1. Make suggestions to your online sale sites that you would love to have features that helped sales not social bonding!
2. Get the word out to all your customers and potential customers that you have a perfect shop just for them that they can shop with you and get personal one on one service without having to spend a dime on gas!
3. Try to portray that you are a business and are trying to make a living with your art and crafts not just see how many hits you can get, hits and favorites and hearts don't pay the bills.
4. Show how special and one of a kind your items are and how you are offering an opportunity for your customers to buy something extra special instead of imported items from the malls, discount stores or dollar stores.
5. Have you noticed how unfun it is to shop these days? Make it FUN to shop with you!
6. Let's start thinking in ways to improve our shops so that not only the sites are making money off us but how we would like to use EVERY tool to the max to make our shops found online!
7. Working your shop and online presence must be looked at like a job either part time or full time, allow time to get new listings posted, update photos etc. each day.
8. GET THE WORD OUT THAT YOU ARE ON ETSY! Put it on all your business cards, stationary, emails, tweets, posts.
9. Don't feel guilty about wanting to make money on your art, you have a talent that 9 out of 10 people would love to have and don't have a clue what goes into your art.
10. SAVE THE ARTISTS...SHOP ETSY! We need for potential customers to know that sure we love for them to browse our shop, heart our items, comment on our work but without sales we can't offer our talents for no return...think of ways to get this point across without sounding desperate...use coupon codes and other ways to seal the deal.
11. Think about it only a few years ago we would not be able to even be able to showcase our work to the whole world, we need to think of new ways to capture the customers who are surfing out there and we are doing them a favor by offering our unique works of art and imagination to them at a very nominal price.
12. Today people are so attuned to paying $1 for a piece of crap that they have NO clue what Etsy is offering them, in essence we are the WORLD WIDE GALLERY they need to know it can't exist without a cash flow of some kind, they would miss it if it was gone and that what you are offering is far superior to anything they can find in town.

Let's join together and get this movement moving!
