This really is one of my favourite paintings of this year. 'The Governess' was inspired by the dramatic literary heroines such as Jane Eyre and Henry James' governess in 'The Turn of the Screw'. A solitary figure set against a smudgy grey background, she is wearing a dark olive green Victorian gown with a simple grey shawl dipping down behind her. Her hair is pulled into a simple, conservative bun.
The colouring in this painting really reminds me of the beautiful bleakness of the northern English moors as they were depicted in Victorian literature.

This print is 8 x 10 with a 1\/4 inch white border for framing, and is printed on high quality and long-lasting matte kodak endura photo paper. It will be shipped to you in a non-bendy cardboard envelope with a plastic liner.

Please note that computer screens can distort colours a little bit, so while I try my best to make sure my images are true to print colour, it may show up slighty different on your screen.
