An extravagant charm bracelet from my Drylands Incantations series, this gem-laden treasure is a celebration of winter. Yes, we have icy winters here in the high desert, and sometimes a fair amount of snow, since the valley of the Rio Grande in northern New Mexico sits at around a mile above sea level and the mountains go up to over 12,000 feet.

I'm fascinated by a certain bluish-green that's sometimes seen in ice formations, and have featured gemstones with that color in this wintry mix. Many pieces of iridescent labradorite add moving glints of vivid blues and aquas as well.

The base bracelet was entirely handmade by me of fused fine silver links. The big oval links and the smaller round links that join them were all hammered on desert rock for a rustic texture, then oxidized and hand finished with a soft satin shine. The bracelet has an invisible clasp made from a hook that looks a lot like the links.

The charms were attached with sterling silver wire-wrapped links. The aqua-colored gemstones include big pieces of flat, rough aquamarine; polished drops of prasiolite; creamy nuggets of jade and a large piece of Peruvian blue opal. There are many shapes and sizes of labradorite, including faceted beads. Other gemstones include frosted quartz, smoky quartz, smoky topaz, and a long tooth-shaped pendant of milky agate.

The two cast resin ammonite charms were also handmade by me, and were polished to the look and feel of beach glass. Finally, three fine silver charms bearing alchemical symbols are also in the mix. I made these by hand using metal seals that I also created by hand. The largest of the three has a pour of sepia resin inside.

This is a lovely and magical piece!

Size: 7 3/4" long, with the inner diameter at around 2 1/2" when laid out in a circle. It will easily accomodate an average-sized wrist. The longest charm hangs 1 3/4" down from the links.

Care: Wash in lukewarm water and mild soap as needed. I recommend allowing normal wear to keep it polished, or use a silver polishing cloth very gently. Avoid paste or liquid polish.

Ice Alchemy will arrive giftwrapped in a unique hand decorated collage box, along with a handwritten descriptive label.
