This is a 90% silver coin ring made from a 1964 Kennedy half dollar. It is sized 8.5 and the band is 9 mm wide.

The Kennedy half replaced the Franklin half dollar in 1964 before the Franklin's usual minting time was up. Kennedy's assassination created a strong desire to commemorate him in U.S. coinage as soon as possible. As a result of the materials shift to nickel/copper clad in 1965, there's only one year when silver Kennedy halves were made for circulation.

Each ring is a unique combination of the historic use of the coin and my workmanship in transforming it into art.

I make these rings individually by turning them from the flat coin into a ring that leaves the relief running across the band of the ring, both inside and outside. I then hammer the rings while preserving the engraving to create an even shape all around. And finally, they are polished until they shine.

I then either leave that natural shine, or use an antiquing patina to create darker areas that allow the relief to stand out.

If you'd like a custom ring made to your size, please use the Conversation feature here on Etsy to contact me and arrange a custom order. Half dollars can be sized from US ring sizes 7 to 13.

Please confirm your ring size at a jeweler prior to ordering to make sure your ring fits just right!

I can also make pairs of his-and-her rings. Excellent gifts for coin collectors, bankers, economists, patriots!

I ship to the US and Canada.
I accept Paypal.
