This is for a commission slot of original totem artwork – animal of your choice - by artist Pia Ravenari. Please read the following description *thoroughly* to understand my process / what I can and cannot draw, and turnaround times. :)

*

This is for an original, unframed 'as totem' picture, which measures 7.4 x 8 inches, or 18.5 x 20.5 centimetres.

It will be drawn on superior, acid-free Crescent illustration board with waterfast archival-grade fineliner, high grade colour pencils, watercolour pencils, metallic paint, and sometimes iridescent paint and additional pigment.

*

Turnaround: Original art completed a maximum of one month from time of purchase, with an extra two to three weeks to allow for delivery. Turnaround will sometimes be sooner, but I will keep you posted!

*

SPECIFICS:

1. Leave a note to discuss what animal you'd like. Species are great (a type of wolf, as opposed to just 'wolf.') If you need help however, let me know and I can possibly assist you in finding the species that is ‘yours.’

2. About what I will / will not illustrate:

- This is for animal illustrations only.
- One animal per illustration with *rare* exceptions (convo me first)
- I do not illustrate hot blooded horses like Arabians
- I do not duplicate exact compositions of previous works; but I will draw animals I've drawn before.
- I cannot draw a totem there are no reference pictures for; this being said I do specialise in rare animals, and have built illustrations based on grainy reference pictures or skeleton reference pictures. Please check if you’re unsure.
- I retain all copyright to the image itself (while you own the original), for future sales in prints and merchandise.

3. All pieces are sent via insured postage, except in the case of Australia and Canada, where it will be sent via Registered post. If your country does not offer the possibility of insured post, it will be sent via the closest equivalent.

4. You will be updates. The first is a rough sketch, during which I allow some changes to be made if necessary. If you want to back out of the project at this stage, I will issue a full refund. The second update is the black and white ink – at which point no more changes can be done to the illustration. The final update is a photo and scan of your completed piece, and information as to when it will be posted, and when you can expect arrival.

*My method:

First, I research the animal you want me to illuminate. I contact the animal totem you’ve asked for me to draw through shamanic techniques I’ve been honing for over ten years; and then work with the animal (rather than the client) to find the best pose and composition that elicits it’s energy most effectively. Remember, these are animal totem pictures, designed to evoke the energy of the animal you want, and as a result, I cannot change this composition drastically, and sometimes at all, to suit the client. I will always let you know if this is the case, however. The animal totem is also present during the colouring process, and some colours may seem unconventional or not your first choice. I will get an ‘idea’ of colours during the sketching process, and will try and let you know as soon as possible what the animal is edging towards. Sometimes animals will let you influence the colour scheme. If you have a favourite colour, or an idea of the colour, let me know; just be aware it may not always be possible to integrate these colours.

Please keep this in mind before commissioning me. While every client I’ve ever had has been happy with the work I’ve done for them (and frequently come back for repeat purchases); it’s important to know that I cannot ‘make changes’ to the animal totem image outside of correcting anatomical problems in the animal itself. I still keep you – the client – appraised of the process as much as possible, with high quality scans and photos from the first sketch, through to completed inking, and then to completed colour. What you are getting with this original artwork, is also someone who uses shamanic techniques to contact an animal in a non-ordinary manner, and this is part of my process, which is a gift I offer to others through my artwork, and a service not commonly found.
