Inspired by Jose Guadalupe Posada's 1913 zince etching titled La Calavera Catrina ('The Elegant Skull'). The etching was part of his series of calaveras, which were humorous images of contemporary figures depicted as skeletons. One of the iconic symbols of Dia de Los Muertos, and a wonderful embodiment of the phrase "carpe diem".

Beautifully detailed resin skulls dangle with vintage lampwork glass and handpainted vntage lucite and acrylic flowers wintage Czech and Swarovski. Solid brass lever back hooks create a finished look at the back for short hair and up-dos, and keep them from getting pulled in hair.

A tribute to Mexican folk art, Frida Khlao, Dia de Los Muertos, and festivals celebrating mortality, honoring ancestors and a reverant repsect for death. LIMITED EDITION.

Packed with care in a gift box, this macabre momento ships from the U.S. Florida residents will be charged state sales tax. Overseas customers please contact me for shipping options.
