This one goes out to my former structures prof Dragoslav Simic!

This bowl was actually a slab constructed using two concave plaster forms, one large and one small. The clay was formed and trimmed so that the bottom from which the handle reaches out is round but the rim is oblong. The cantilever failed without a counterbalance so a cork pedestal was added to lift the nose and correct the imbalance. Sterling Silver wire joins the two brute materials making for a nice detail. The sheen of the black is a wonderful counterpoint to the cork and the piece is quite stable.

dillo white clay.
