:Vintage Sewing Machine Mercury Deluxe Electric Model no 68 1950s:

This machine was made in Japan. Singer had these machines made in Japan. The machine operates. There is a presser foot with it. The paint is in fantastic condition. My eye was immeditately drawn to this piece because of its wonderful color. Lost of folks were gathered around the machine at the flea market admiring it and exchanging stories about their moms and grandmoms using similar machines. There is a bobbin case as well as some extra bobbins with it. One of the cords has some electrical tape wrapped around it. Everything seems to be in working order although I cannot verify how well it works for sewing. The machine sits in a case with the label Monarch on the outside of it. This machine I'm sure would work fine for your basic sewing needs and looks to be able to handle heavier materials. This would also be a teriffic machine to use as a display piece in your home, shop or studio space. The machine is extremely heavy, hence a very high shipping price.

Sewing Machine Dimensions are: 12inches tall as it sits in its base, 15 inches wide, 7 inches deep (front to back), base plate 14 1/2 inches,

Case Dimensions: 18 inches long, 9 1/2 inches wide, 7 1/2 inches width at top of case (case is tapered), 14 inches high.

I believe that our homes reflect the story that we tell about our lives. Each special object is a poem unto itself. I like to imagine the stories and poems that have lived through the days of these objects of beauty. When they come to live with you they continue on telling the story and poems of your own special life.
