Quick specs: 1", 25.5mm wide, solid aluminum stamping blanks, diagonal and mostly visual grain on front, smooth on back, won't rust or tarnish, 20 gauge (0.80mm), 3mm hole, lightweight.

This is a batch of brushed aluminum discs perfect for enhancing your jewelry creations. They are made from solid aluminum and have been die cut. This brushed aluminum has a lovely silky look to it on the front and a smooth finish on the back. These discs have a diagonal visual 'grain' to them, and the grain orientation runs as you see it in the first photo. It's mostly a visual grain, rather than a textural one, though you can feel it very slightly when you touch the discs. This listing is for the grain orientation you see in the first photo and I will list the vertical grain tags separately, so as to keep them distinct.

They're 1" wide (25.5mm), and because they are aluminum, they are extremely lightweight and won't rust or patina. These 20 gauge (0.80mm) discs can be carved, stamped or etched for added texture and interest.

The holes are about 3mm wide and are about 2mm from the edge of the discs.

If needed, these discs can be cleaned with a gentle liquid soap and warm water, and dried gently with a soft cloth.

These discs are made from sheet metal that's been lightly oiled to minimize sticking and overheating the die cutter, and as a result some of the discs feel oily/dusty. You might find they need a quick buffing to reveal their full beauty. You may also find that they need to have their edges smoothed a bit, but if so, it shouldn't be a lot of work, just a touch-up here or there. :)

A quick way to abrade away any burrs, if there are any, is to very gently drag the edge of the disc over the back side of a floor tile. Generally the undersides of floor tiles are unglazed ceramic, so they offer a nice, somewhat flat, and definitely affordable abrasive surface. Just put a towel down on your table, put the tile upside down onto the towel, and then hold the disc on the far side of the tile, with only the rough burr edge touching the tile, and very gently, rotate and drag the disc at the same time towards you, to gently file away the burr. Just go slow, and use a very, very light touch. Drag the disc a couple of times if you need to, but just go slow and light each time, so you don't overdo it. Also, don't do this for any part of the disc other than the side edges because you won't want to scratch the surface of the disc, you just want to buff off any burrs along the edge, if you see any.

Thanks and have fun!! :)
