Thanks so much for the feature!
Oh, good grief, Juls; when you said you were doing a special treasury for ME, you weren't kidding!
Okay, I'M the girl. And here's the story....
My neighbors bought a black stallion (and 'stallion' is the key word here). They foolishly named him Satan. Guess what? He lived up to his name, and actually exceeded their expectations. He was so unruly, they could neither bridle, nor saddle him. I was a fearless 13-year-old, well-versed in being repeatedly thrown from an ornery Shetland pony named Donna...
Delightful, truly wonderous!
Thanks so much for sharing our bucket!
They would call me up, and beg me to come bridle and saddle him. Satan would snap to attention when he saw me, and look at me with something like relief (Thank GOD you're here! These people do NOT know what to do with me!) I'd roughhouse him, saddle him, bridle him, and then their 18-year-old daughter would climb up in the saddle...Immediately, Satan would begin rearing. The girl would yell, "Somebody grab him, so I can get OFF!" Well, you can guess who grabbed him...
In the end, the phone calls changed from "Lori, can you come put the saddle and bridle on Satan?" to "Lori, can you come ride Satan? He's getting FAT."
They eventually changed his name to Blackjack (hoping to change the horse and his wicked temperament?) But, it was too late. Satan lived up to his FIRST name....
The sad part of this story is that they sold Satan (now Blackjack). A week after the sale, both the horse and the girl that bought him were killed when he bolted in front of an oncoming truck. He was a very dangerous horse, and if I'd known who they'd sold him TO, I would have warned them.
When I look back at my childhood, it's a wonder I never broke my NECK.
And THAT is the story of a horse named Satan and the only girl who could really ride him.
Off to tweet!
Thanks for including my brooch, Juls! Wow, do I look dangerous, or what? LOL

OMG! I didn`t know about the last bit of the story!! Wow that`s TERRIBLE! 0_o
I didn't know the last part of the story either! How sad.
This is a wonderfully constructed treasury. Beautiful horse-related items!
Yes, I'm afraid the end of the story was sad, but true. What was really sad was that the girl was only 17. But, she did a no-no (my father never allowed it) she had a corral right on a very busy highway, and she took a strange, new horse outside the corral to ride along that busy highway. He had a bad habit of bolting, but she didn't know him well enough yet to discern this.
