Description

1965 moss agate Celtic brooch, Thomas Kerr Ebbutt Edinburgh hallmark, sterling silver traditional interlacing, 60s dendritic agate pin.

A fab Scottish brooch in sterling silver with a large moss agate cabochon in lovely shades of rusty red and moss green. The mount of the brooch features a Celtic interlacing pattern. The brooch is 35 mm (1 3/8 inches) in diameter and the moss agate is 19 mm (3/4 inch) in diameter. The brooch fixes on the back with a rollover clasp.

At the bottom of the back of the brooch is a full set of hallmarks: a thistle, which is one of the Scottish sterling silver marks; the city mark for Edinburgh Assay Office of a triple-towered castle; and the date mark of a 'k' for 1965. At the top of the brooch is a partial stamping of 'T.E', which is the maker's mark for the Edinburgh firm of Thomas Kerr Ebbutt. The firm was established in 1896 and operated from St David's Square, Edinburgh; in 1977 it was sold to Hamilton and Inches. Next to the maker's mark is 'SCOTLAND'.

The brooch is in excellent vintage condition. The moss agate has one crack on the surface, but this is propagated from a fracture within the stone running along the boundary between the green mossy area and the red filaments next to it. It isn't damage, and because it is at the boundary it doesn't really show - I first noticed it when I felt it with my fingers. The silver isn't very tarnished as it has been cleaned recently.

I sell quite a number of Celtic / Pictish / Viking-inspired vintage pieces:

Returns and exchange details
I want you to be absolutely delighted with your purchase, and I want us to have a fair and equitable business relationship.

I research the items thoroughly, take detailed photographs and always try my utmost to provide honest and accurate descriptions. The photographs form part of the item description and should be studied closely. I can provide additional photographs if required. If you have any questions please contact me prior to purchase and I will try to answer any queries you may have.

The item listed is always the item you will receive. I wrap and package items very carefully. I do not offer a gift wrapping service, but pieces usually are wrapped in tissue paper and come in a decorative box.

►RETURNS:
I accept returns if you notify me within 14 days of receiving your item, and send the item back within 14 days after the date that you notified me (shipping times may vary). Items must be in the same condition as you received them. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. I will not accept returned items that have been altered in any way. The item must be in its original gift box.

The buyer must pay return shipping costs with tracking, and receives full refund for the item only. Original (delivery) shipping is not refundable unless the buyer is in the EU and/or Inglenookery was at fault. Postage upgrades are not refunded, only the basic postage rate. More details of consumer law, as applicable to buyers within the EU, are available here:

http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/index_en.htm

The buyer is responsible for packaging returned items safely and securely, so that they are not damaged in transit. The buyer is responsible if such damage occurs.

Once I have received the item back and have checked that it is in its original condition, I will then issue the refund. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

►DAMAGED:
Please send me photographs of the item and all packaging so I can fill out a postal claim, and then return the item to me. A full refund will be given including original shipping.

►UNDELIVERABLE:
Items that are returned to me as undeliverable will be reshipped at the buyer's expense. If the buyer decides they do not require the item after it has been returned to me, I will refund just the purchase price of the item, minus the original shipping costs plus any shipping / customs costs I have had to pay for its return.

Shipping policies

Each item has its own individual price for postage and packing, as the price will vary depending on the size, weight and value of each item, as well as its destination.

Normally I will dispatch all items between 1 and 3 working days from receiving payment for the item. Very occasionally I am away from my shop and unable to ship as quickly: please check my shop announcement which will have details of any such instances.

Please be aware that I have no control over the time the item will spend with the postal carriers (and with customs for international orders) or how long it will take for items to arrive at their destination.

If you have special requirements for shipping, such as an upgrade, please contact me before purchasing, so that I can make sure the correct price is charged. If you wish for a different method of delivery or delivery provider, please contact me for a quote before you purchase.

Any customs, import taxes or other charges are the responsibility of the customer. Please be aware of your country's policies.

For combined purchases I refund the postage and packing overages.

►Shipping methods:

Items worth £38.00 or less are usually sent by 1st class small package delivery in the UK, and by International small package standard delivery to the rest of the world.

Items worth more than £38.00 are usually sent within the UK by Royal Mail Signed For delivery or Royal Mail Special Delivery, and international orders are sent by Royal Mail International Tracked, or Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed delivery (which of these services is specified in each individual item details listing). The delivery methods mentioned in this paragraph all have a unique tracking reference number which I will let you know. There are a few exceptions to this: please see individual listing descriptions.

I offer upgrades to Royal Mail within-UK services: you can add these at checkout.

►Delivery times, within the UK:

Royal Mail items sent within the UK are all mailed by 1st class post, and Royal Mail aims to deliver the next working day (apart from post mailed on a Saturday, when delivery will not likely be until the Tuesday), although this is not guaranteed. Royal Mail will not consider an item lost until 15 working days have passed since the item was due to be delivered (10 working days for Special Delivery items).

Royal Mail Special Delivery next day service of course depends on the time of day you place your order: if it is later in the day, after 2 pm UK time, I will not be able to process the order and get it to the post office in time for that day's collection, and so I will post it the next day and delivery will not be until the day after that.

Royal Mail Special Delivery next day orders placed on a Friday will not reach their destination until the Monday, unless you have paid the shipping upgrade for the additional fee that Royal Mail charges for Saturday deliveries.

►Delivery times, international (ie outside the UK):

Royal Mail items sent internationally may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive, or even longer if the item is held up in customs, even though Royal Mail aims to deliver to Europe within 3-5 working days and to rest of the world within 5-7 working days. Royal Mail will not consider an item lost until at least 20 working days (for items posted to Europe) or 25 working days (for items to the rest of the world) have passed from the due delivery date. Accordingly, I will not consider items lost or make refunds for non-delivery until this period has passed.
