Melinoe is a little known Underworld Goddess who appears in the Orphic Hymns as a Goddess of madness and nightmares. She is invoked to “banish the maddening stings of the soul”. She can be called upon to help us to see through illusion and to face our fears, and to pass through the blockages on the spiritual path, the fear of change, the delusions of ego.
