Splendid work by a Calabrian artist depicting a farmer forced to emigrate to Germany for work, who bids his last farewell to his little daughter with the background of his countryside which he will leave uncultivated. The colors are mercilessly sad, but a penetrating luminosity can be seen through the figures present, as if they were a hope of rebirth.
The author was a man of letters who has remained artistically unknown, but his works circulate among the friends and relatives who have had them.
To appreciate the value of this work, just think that the artist, returning home after meeting his friend who emigrated to help his family, had an immediate inspiration, but not having a canvas to paint on, he tore the canvas of the his deck chair and used it to immediately paint his vision and his pain and his sorrow for what was happening in the deep south of Italy in the 70s.
