Inspired by my garden blooms, spiky flower heads of aquilegia or more commonly known as granny's bonnet. I carved the mounts in wax and cast them in 9ct yellow gold, the choice of metal was due to the lightness of metal rather than comparative value cost. I found exceptionally intense magenta pink coloured rubelites of considerable size for the round tops and pear shaped bottoms. To offsetting these pinks I added a nice green tsavorites in the middle of the earrings. Colour combinations really look like candies ! Such vivid colours are hard to come by. Earrings length 6.5 cm
