Description

As seen in Knit Now, Mollie Makes and Let's Get Crafting magazines......

'The Woolly Prawn' is a new type of knitting and crochet pattern book. Written by a mum and daughter team, Jenny Every and Sian Goulding, it is aimed at a new generation of knitters and crocheters.

The inspiration for the book came after Jenny taught me (35 year old Sian) to knit and we spotted a gap in the market. I really struggled to find inspiring and appealing pattern books with a selection of items that I actually wanted to make.

'The Woolly Prawn' is a pattern book with a difference. Not only does it contain 16 patterns (including one for a woolly prawn) but it also explores the wider world of knitting and crochet. We introduce the reader to some of the lesser known goings-on such as knit graffiti, hyperbolic crochet and the potential of using knitting in mainstream healthcare.

Throughout the book there is an emphasis on readers developing their own style and using the patterns as a basis to try out different effects. This isn’t a prescriptive book and suggestions are given throughout on how patterns could be adapted. It is all about encouraging people to have a go and not be afraid to experiment.

All but a couple of the patterns are for short projects which could be completed in a weekend. The patterns include items for her, for him, for sport, for pets, for the home and for little ones and vary in difficulty from beginners to intermediate and advanced.

The Woolly Prawn is 92 pages, size 210mm x 210mm
ISBN: 978-0-9574836-0-6

The Woolly Prawn featured in The Bookshelf section (p9) of the January's issue of Knit Now magazine. They said:

"The final book in our little pile is just adorable. The Woolly Prawn was born from a mother and daughter's search for beginner-friendly patterns that appealed to Sian's sense of fun, so she and her mum Jenny set about creating this collection of knitting and crochet patterns for beginners. The result is a really lovely little book with cute illustrations, clear photography and a really unique sense of fun!"

Let's Get Crafting said:

"Combine knitting and crochet with fun new book The Woolly Prawn by Sian Goulding and Jenny Every. Aimed at a new generation of crafters, it contains 16 patterns for all the family, plus homewares."
