Decided to attempt something for my TOTALLY range of fonts that has actually taken more time than I'd expected. Whilst creating the CELESTIAL MALACHIM typeface @ https://etsy.me/3bqljd0 last month I wanted to see if there actually were anicient letters in the sky. These glyphs definitely took some finding A,T,P,S and Z and were my starting point LIBRA, NORTHERN CROSS, THE PLOUGH, DRACO and CASSIOPEIA (however she was originally the E that was replaced by AQUARIUS then by SCULPTOR the rest took way more research. Many have moved around originally Lupus was placed at H until I found the Giraffe this then became lowercase h instead. Scorpio was origianlly at the J until I found the Southern Cross, so moved that to the Question Mark also I couldn't find a better U other than the mininalistic Zodiac sign however the full constellation can now be found at the hashtag. There are 88 constellations officially recognized by the International Astronomical Union, there are 36 modern constellations predominantly lie in the northern sky, while 52 are found in the southern celestial hemisphere. Most constellations, at least forty represent animals, many were named after humans or figures from mythology, while some depict inanimate objects.
I have decided to use parts of at least two constellations and removed parts from HERCULES, PISCIS AUSTRINUS (not PISCES) and PEGASUS. The G was trickly until I found the Winter Hexagon 6 of the brightest stars Rigel in Orion ; Sirius the chest of Canis Major; Procyon the tail of Canis Minor; Head of Pollux in Gemini; Capella Auriga; Aldebaran the eye of Taurus the bull; Betelgeuse in Orion making the G at the right time of year in February but completely visible from October to February where you can see the Edge of the Milky Way on a clear night.
If nothing else this gave me a lesson in both Astronomy and font layer element placement, something I have never cared to use until now, so that I could easily copy and paste the two star sizes into the same cell as the connections that I had already created and imported. Happy Hunting I have only used 35 so there are many more to find when you look up into the night sky.
