This is a really useful pattern for a fully lined zippy bag or pouch. In two sizes, it gives you lots of options.

The smaller bag is ideal as a pencil case or make-up bag. The larger bag has been designed following my frustration at not being able to fit my hairspray canister into my existing toiletries bag. It fits in this one!!

Make it in pretty cotton fabric for a classic look. What about trying plasticized material for a more durable option? You don’t need to line the plasticized version, but omit any instructions using an iron.

The finished bags measure:
Small: 10” x 6” x 2” / 25.5cm x 15.25cm x 5cm
Large: 10” x 11” x 2” / 25.5cm x 28cm x 5cm

This pattern is suitable for anyone with some sewing skills as there is a zipper involved. However, I class this pattern as "Easy" as the zipper is sewn along a straight edge. Go on, be brave and try it!

The document prints out on 9 x A4 sheets of paper. The pattern has been made to fit the A4 size. The larger pattern comes in two parts that need sticking together first. Don’t worry. There are instructions and a picture to help you.

The pattern is fully illustrated with step-by-step photos and includes hints and tips (see the example pattern photo).

Measurements are given in both imperial and metric scales.

If you like the fabric, this is also available in the Craft Pixie shop with FREE UK delivery and is being sold by the half-metre.

To make this bag you will need the following:

For the small bag
1 fat quarter of main fabric, 1 fat quarter of lining fabric, 1 fat quarter of medium weight iron on interfacing

For the large bag
½ yard (½m) of main fabric, ½ yard (½m) of lining fabric, ½ yard (½m) of medium weight iron on interfacing

In addition you will need
• At least a 14” plastic / nylon zipper (the longer zipper makes the sewing easier)
• A piece of matching ribbon (optional)
• Matching sewing thread
• Sharp scissors, pins and hand sewing needle
• Measuring tape
• Sewing machine
• Iron and ironing board

You should be able to get both the small and large bag out of ½ yard or ½m of main and lining fabric. The stiffness of your bag will depend on the thickness of the interfacing and the weight of the outer fabric.
