5 out of 5 starsThis is not so much a pattern as a 49-page instruction book on overlay crochet. The photos are so detailed that I don't even need to read the instructions. I've been working from Melody MacDuffee's pattern in Crochet Masterclass and, while it's wonderful and got me interested in overlay, this is much better. There are arrows on each photo to show exactly where to put the hook for stitches that don't go in traditional places. Caveat: this is not stuff for beginners! It makes a difference that you already know how to SEE crochet stitches and can remember for longer than it takes to read the definition what is meant by 2dtrdec. It makes a difference that you know how to see why to pick up only through the back loop and how to find a post that's hard to see through many layers. First time: use the colors indicated.

The mandala pattern I got is one of the best written patterns I have ever had. It shocked me that it was 50 pages long but they are better written than any. Had never made one before and am now hooked (no pun intended)

This is so gorgeous I just had to buy the pattern! Plus, for Christmas my husband bought me a huge collection of Catania SMC yarn which is still sitting patiently in my stash waiting to be turned into something beautiful! I think this will be it!
